Sunday, the Lord's day

Is Sunday still the Lord's day? We have been struggling at church to see even the deacons commit to Sunday evening service. The excuse most commonly used is that Sunday is a family day. I remember not too many years ago when those were my sentiments as well. The early church met everyday. We have crammed it into Sunday and Wednesday. Now we are saying that Sunday is a family day. Why not pick another day to be the family day so that on Sundays at least we can focus on others. That is what the church should be about. That is what we should be modeling to our kids. If you have been fooling yourself into rationalizing a drop in church attendance, I beg you to reconsider. For the sake of your family, reconsider. After all, it is better to model the life of an active believer for your children than to spend time with them just talking about it! If the leadership doesn't want to attend, maybe it would be better just to cancel it. At least that way they wouldn't be portraying a poor example.
